Scots Bearings Ltd and Festo offer a pneumatic solution for glass bottle manufacturer
On a resent emergency call-out to one of our prestigious clients, a world leader in the Glass manufacturing process, Scots Bearings Ltd were asked if we could help re-design, manufacture and supply a solution to an obsolete toothed axis air cylinder on their lear fan spray jets.
Our client advised their existing design had gone obsolete due to supplier closure and should any of their 12 machines fail there would be a massive loss of production and serious loss of revenue. An estimate of any machine failure was in the region of £4000 per manufacturing hour and with all machines running 24/7 failure is not an option.
After reviewing all the issue’s and having in-depth discussions with both the line engineers and site engineering manager, Scots Bearings Ltd, Scotland's Largest Independent Supplier of Bearing and Power Transmission Products, called upon one of the world’s leading manufacturers in air pneumatics, Festo.
It was clear from the start our client’s main worries were down-time and whether or not they could receive a product that would require minimal machine modification. As all machines had been on-site for many years and all were a key part to their manufacturing process it was crucial to work closely with the engineers to make sure that what was being proposed meant minimum down-time on installation.
