Split housings are designed according to a modular concept and are a development of the SN/SNE housings. Rolling bearings of various diameter and width series can be fitted into each housing, if they have the appropriate outside diameter for the housing.

Suitable bearing types include self-aligning ball bearings, barrel roller bearings, split and un-split spherical roller bearings and deep groove ball bearings.

The bearings are either seated directly on the shaft or are located using adapter sleeves. This gives different shaft diameters for the same bearing size. Appropriate seals can compensate the spaces between shaft and housing diameter. Split plummer block housings are generally available for shaft diameters 20mm up to 160mm and ¾ inches to 5½ inches, larger sizes available on request.

One of the key benefits of the Split Plummer Range is simplified stock holding as a result of the modular concept, one housing size suitable for various shaft diameters.

Features & Benefits

  • High load carrying capacity.
  • Depending on the operating conditions, double lip seals, labyrinth seals, felt seals, V ring seals or combined seals may be used.  (Special seals available on request).
  • Locating bearings centred by means of two locating rings of identical width.
  • Flat end faces on the housing base allow abutment against stops if high forces do not act on the locating face in a purely vertical direction.
  • Holes can be created at marked points on the housing for: monitoring systems, fixing screws, parallel or tapered pins.

Key Point

Correct fitting has a decisive influence on the achievable bearing life. For this reason, careful attention must be paid to the following mounting instructions. For further information please contact your nearest branch or download the manual in the manufacturers downloads section.
